Ichimoku Cloud

Bullish (Above Cloud)

The Ichimoku Cloud applied to Bitcoin's monthly chart. The key signal is the Tenkan/Kijun death cross — when the 9-month Tenkan-sen crosses below the 26-month Kijun-sen. In every previous cycle, Bitcoin bottomed 3-4 months after this monthly death cross formed.

The Ichimoku Cloud is a Japanese charting system that shows momentum, support, and resistance all at once. On the monthly chart, when the fast line (Tenkan) crosses below the slow line (Kijun), it is called a death cross. In every previous Bitcoin cycle, the price bottomed 3-4 months after this cross. If the death cross has not formed yet, structurally it may still be too early to call a bottom.

Methodology

Daily close prices are resampled into monthly candles (high = max daily close, low = min daily close). Standard Ichimoku parameters (9/26/52) are applied: Tenkan-sen = 9-month high-low midpoint, Kijun-sen = 26-month high-low midpoint, Senkou Span A = (Tenkan + Kijun) / 2 shifted 26 months forward, Senkou Span B = 52-month high-low midpoint shifted 26 months forward. The Kumo (cloud) is the region between Senkou Span A and B.
